Ceredigion - Cardigan Bay
Ceredigion is ideal walking country, from gentle seaside strolls to rugged mountain hikes. The county features many town trails and waymarked paths including forest and Heritage Coast walks, all detailed in guidebooks and pamphlets.
Pony trekking is an excellent way to enjoy the spectacular scenery whilst opportunities for cycling are being extended with the development of mountain-biking trails at the Nant Yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre near Ponterwyd.
Sailing and watersports fans are regularly attracted to Ceredigion's beaches and welcoming harbours: Y Lanfa, Aberystwyth's marina; historic stone-walled Aberaeron; Cardigan with its broad estuary waters and New Quay's fine sweeping bay.
Enjoyed by visiting fishing enthusiasts and locals alike, Ceredigion's challenging freshwater and sea angling conditions have produced some of Wales's foremost international anglers, coarse angling is also on offer at several locations.
Events abound in and around the agricultural calendar with features such as the Tregaron Trotting Races, Cardigan's Barley Saturday, shearing competitions, sheep-dog trials, carnivals, fairs, festivals, agricultural and horticultural shows - the largest of which include shows at Aberystwyth and Talybont.
At Croeslan, near Llandysul, there is an extremely popular Vintage Show held annually. Local produce can be bought at Farmers' Markets held at several locations within Ceredigion whilst Food Festivals celebrate the quality of fare on offer.
At the Urdd (Welsh League of Youth) Centre, near Llangrannog, visitors have access to an all-year ski slope together with other leisure facilities. Indoor swimming pools, together with sports and leisure centres, are to be found within most of Ceredigion's main towns. Golfers too are well catered for with several excellent clubs where guest golfers are always welcome.
